Christmas by day

Christmas Break 2010

Yes, it is already midway into the 2nd month of the year, and the Christmas break is all but over. Gone are the beautiful, fancy christmas lights, the jolly tunes of christmas carols, and the chilly christmas feel in the air.

Call it vacation blues or whatsoever, but it seems like looking back into this time of the year is just, well, to put it simply… something you also look forward to.  (By looking back, you then look forward to it the next time – quite confusing eh? hehe)

Anyway, for most of us I suppose, we remember Christmas for the many things that happen in this season during the night, when it’s all magical – the lights, the fireworks, the cold night breeze, the carolings, the noche buena of course, and many more.

Well maybe only just a few remember or take some interest on it during the day. That is essentially what this post is all about… a look at Christmas by day, in plain view under the daytime sun.

Christmas tree

No colorful, blinking series lights that shine. Just the sun rays shining down from the blue sky.

Still plenty of light (and clouds), and thus a white background.

Parol, wood style

Though uniquely made from unconventional materials, this ain’t what a parol is supposed to be – laying down wasted on the ground.

Outshined

With too much light around, the nightly beauty fades.

For the kids

They say Christmas is for the kids. But I just can’t help but wonder what it’s like for these kids, the ones begging and singing carols in the streets.

Soliciting a smile from this boy here requires a quick dip in my pocket for a highly-demanded 5 peso coin.

Well, this one is quite the opposite. A quick point of the camera into their direction and you get this tight pose and curious, shy look in their faces.
